Our Roasting Philosophy
At Goût & Co, we aim to express each coffee’s distinct terroir through the lightest possible roast.
Every coffee is carefully fine-tuned during roasting based on its green coffee characteristics, density, and origin, to find the point where its innate flavor potential is best revealed.
Rather than categorizing by Agtron color or roast appearance, we define our coffees by sensory experience and the personality of each coffee, dividing them into two distinct levels: Ultra-light and Light.
This approach allows you to more intuitively understand how we interpret and highlight flavor nuances.
The name “Goût” in French signifies flavor, taste, while “Co” represents coffee, connection, and communication, reflecting our brand philosophy.Through light roasting, we unlock each bean’s unique terroir story, awakening refined perception of coffee flavors and deep aesthetic experiences. We are dedicated to creating an open and diverse window that connects the world through specialty coffee culture.
Over the past five years, Goût & Co has meticulously curated over 100 micro-lot premium green beans annually from around the world. Each bean receives a tailored roasting profile, building our diverse and rich coffee flavor library. We invite every coffee explorer to discover the distinctive charm of terroir and find their own "life coffee."
The
Founder
Tong, founder and roaster of Goût & Co, embarked on an extraordinary journey from engineering to crafting exceptional coffee. With a background in robotics engineering and a master’s education in France, Tong discovered the world of specialty coffee during his time in Paris. Driven by curiosity and passion, he transitioned into the coffee industry and quickly made his mark. In his first in the coffee industry, Tong achieved 3rd place in the prestigious French Brewers Cup (FBRC).
After returning to Chengdu in 2019, he continued to push boundaries: winning the regional AeroPress Championship and founding Goût & Co in 2020, crystallizing years of coffee exploration and unwavering passion into this brand. As both roaster and innovator, he infuses each cup with an engineer's precision and an artist's creative inspiration, crafting unique experiences that transcend cultural boundaries and elevate the art of coffee.
