About farm: Located in the highlands of Arbegona, Sidama, Rumudamo is a small but renowned coffee-producing village in southern Ethiopia. Sitting at an exceptional altitude of 2,200–2,400 meters above sea level, the area rises above most coffee-growing regions in the country, providing ideal conditions for slow cherry maturation and the development of complex, high-quality coffees.

The name Rumudamo carries a meaningful dual expression—"fertile land" and "abundant roots"—reflecting both the richness of the soil and the deep agricultural heritage of the region. Surrounded by lush vegetation, farmers cultivate a variety of crops including sugarcane, enset (false banana), spices, and vegetables, with coffee serving as the primary source of income for local communities.

Coffees from the Rumudamo washing station have gained international recognition, achieving 2nd, 3rd, and 8th place in the 2020 Ethiopia Cup of Excellence, highlighting the region's exceptional quality and consistency.

About process: Freshly harvested cherries are delivered to the washing station and undergo floatation sorting to remove defects before being thoroughly cleaned. The cherries are then fermented in water for approximately 72 hours, allowing the mucilage to break down under controlled conditions.

Following fermentation, the coffee is fully washed and depulped, then transferred to African raised beds for drying over about 9 days. During drying, careful attention is given to airflow and sunlight exposure, with shade applied during peak heat to prevent cracking and preserve bean integrity.
