About farm: El Escarabajo is a specialty coffee processing station located in Tolima, Colombia, founded by Jaime and Juan Pablo. With years of experience in the coffee industry, the two partners combined their shared passion and complementary expertise to establish El Escarabajo as a distinctive representative of the Tolima origin. Situated in the Andes Mountains, Tolima benefits from volcanic soils, high elevations ranging from 1,200 to 2,000 meters, and diverse microclimates. These conditions allow coffee cherries to develop complex flavor compounds, often expressed as bright citrus acidity, caramel-like sweetness, and layered aromatics. About founding team & expertise: Jamie brings extensive, hands-on experience across the entire coffee value chain. Formerly a manager of award-winning farms, he specializes in cultivation, processing, and quality control. As a Q Grader and professional barista, his refined sensory skills ensure consistency and excellence in cup quality. Juan Pablo, with a background in political science and strong market insight, oversees farm operations and trade development.
