About farm: Founded by Tamiru and his spouse, Alo Coffee was born out of Tamiru’s first-hand insight into unfair pricing that plagues local coffee farmers. Inspired by Ethiopia’s inaugural 2020 Cup of Excellence, they entered their Alo village coffee in 2021 and claimed the national champion title at their debut competition, fueling their mission to craft premium Sidama coffee. Ripe cherries are floated and de-skinned, then sealed for 48hr anaerobic fermentation. Fully washed afterward, they dry 21 days on African beds with hourly turning. Shade covers protect cherries from harsh direct sun. When moisture hits 10–11%, the coffee is moved to warehouse storage. |
