About farm: The Gatura Processing Station is located in the highlands of Nyeri, under the unified management of the Rumukia Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS). Renowned for its unwavering focus on high-quality coffee processing, the cooperative has passed on its rigorous and consistent quality standards to Gatura. The station sources fully ripe coffee cherries from smallholder farmers in the surrounding area, with full traceability for every lot. Benefiting from its high-altitude location, abundant rainfall, favorable climate, and mineral-rich volcanic soil, coffee cherries from this region boast exceptional quality. The slow ripening process results in denser beans, which translates to a more nuanced and refined flavor profile in the cup. Peter, the owner of Kamavindi Estate, oversees every step of the red cherry selection and fermentation process, including strict monitoring of dried bean moisture content and resting conditions. |
