About Farm: Finca La Aurora, owned by Roberto Brenes, is located in northwest Chiriquí, Panama, near the Costa Rican border. It produces high-quality Geisha and SHB coffees across two plots: Finca Auromar and Finca Alma. The farm ranges from 1,579 to 1,770 meters in altitude and covers 30 hectares—14.5 for farming, the rest preserved as forest. Since 2006, Roberto has reforested extensively with native trees, promoting biodiversity and shade. Coffee grows on steep slopes in a stable microclimate with minimal temperature swings, yielding limited quantities of complex coffee that has won multiple awards. Roberto is a former director of Panama’s Stock Exchange and Central Bank, an exile during the Noriega regime, an MBA graduate, and an Ironman athlete. He brings the same passion and discipline to coffee farming, achieving exceptional results. About Variety: The Lupao is a hybrid naturally developed, in the Auromar farm. Beginning with two trees and escalating to an acre at 1600 masl , the hybrid is very floral yet not a geisha hybrid. 2020 production was close 100 kilos. The name Lupao is the acronym of Roberto Brenes´ twin granddaughters Lucia and Paola. |
