About farm: Tucked into the misty highlands of Bambito in Panama’s Tierras Altas district of Chiriquí, Finca El Pergamino sits between 1,800 and 2,000 meters above sea level. The farm is owned and worked by Yaneth De Lucich and her family, on rich volcanic soil on the western flank of the Barú volcano and surrounded by dense forest. The cool, humid cloud-forest microclimate slows cherry maturation, concentrating sugars and aromatics—conditions especially suited to delicate, high-value varieties such as Geisha. What makes the farm notable is how recently it entered coffee: the family grew potatoes for years before turning part of their land to specialty coffee and beginning commercial production only a few years ago. At Finca El Pergamino, coffee is grown with purpose and precision. Geisha receives careful attention throughout the season, and only the ripest cherries are handpicked to protect uniformity and flavor integrity. |
