About farm: Located in Boquete, Panama, Hacienda La Esmeralda is one of the world's most celebrated specialty coffee estates, renowned for its exceptional Geisha coffees. Owned and operated by the Peterson family, the estate played a pivotal role in bringing Panamanian Geisha to international recognition following its remarkable success at the 2004 Best of Panama competition.Jaramillo is one of the estate's most renowned growing areas. Its cool, humid mountain climate, mature shade trees, and high-altitude environment create favorable conditions for Geisha cultivation, allowing the cherries to develop slowly and express the variety's distinctive aromatic complexity. Within Jaramillo, Reina is one of the estate's established Geisha plots. With an average tree age of 17 years and approximately 7 hectares dedicated to coffee production, the plot reflects the estate's long-standing commitment to cultivating distinctive Geisha microlots. |
