About farm: Located in Cerro Punta, Tierras Altas, Panama, at elevations of 1,800–2,200 masl, Finca Los Cenizos is a family-run farm led by Estela Pitti and her children, Stella Marie and Niko. Acquired by the family in 2008, the farm planted its first Geisha trees in 2012 and takes its name from the native Cenizos trees that grow throughout the region. Rooted in the belief that exceptional coffee comes from terroir, patience, and harmony with nature, the family cultivates coffee with deep respect for the land and its natural environment. Rich volcanic soils, pristine mountain spring water, and a distinctive microclimate create ideal conditions for growing outstanding coffee, with Geisha and Bourbon among the farm’s principal varieties. Under Estela’s care, Finca Los Cenizos has earned recognition at the Best of Panama competition since 2019. In 2026, the farm achieved 5th place in Geisha Natural and 4th place in Geisha Washed, reflecting the family’s continued dedication to quality and the distinctive character of their high-altitude terroir. This lot comes from the Malaguetto plot, named after a word in the Ngäbe-Buglé language meaning “large, dense tree.” The name pays tribute to the region’s Indigenous heritage and the lush vegetation that surrounds the area. Situated in a high-altitude forest above a canyon, Malaguetto benefits from cool temperatures, generous shade, and slow cherry maturation, resulting in a coffee of exceptional elegance, sweetness, and complexity. |
