About farm: Nestled on the slopes of Volcán Barú in the highlands of Boquete, Panama, Los Lajones is a distinctive coffee estate where exceptional terroir meets a deep commitment to environmental preservation. Managed by renowned producer Graciano Cruz, the estate spans approximately 160 hectares, with around 40 hectares dedicated to coffee cultivation and the remaining 120 hectares preserved as natural forest.

Situated at elevations ranging from 1,750 to 2,400 masl, Los Lajones is surrounded by a rich high-altitude ecosystem of native vegetation and tropical cloud forest. Its volcanic landscape, distinctive microclimate, and diverse natural environment create unique conditions for coffee cultivation. In the upper sections of the farm, Geisha grows alongside native bamboo vegetation, including the area known as Bambu.

Graciano Cruz is a producer known for his curiosity, experimentation, and forward-thinking approach to specialty coffee. With a strong interest in agricultural science and sustainable production, he has spent years exploring how cultivation, terroir, and processing can work together to bring out the character of each coffee. His experience across different coffee-producing regions has further shaped his approach to quality and innovation.

Environmental responsibility is central to the philosophy of Los Lajones. The farm places great emphasis on preserving its surrounding forest ecosystem and minimizing water use during coffee processing. Known for its honey and natural coffees, the estate processes its harvest on-site and carefully dries the beans on African raised beds, allowing each lot to develop its own distinctive expression.

For Graciano, every plot has the potential to produce exceptional coffee. Through continuous experimentation with varieties, growing conditions, and processing techniques, Los Lajones seeks to reveal the unique character of each lot while maintaining a close connection to its natural environment. Its continued recognition at the Best of Panama competition reflects the estate's dedication to quality and its ongoing contribution to Panama's specialty coffee scene.
