| About farm: Located in Santa María de Dota, within Costa Rica's renowned Tarrazú region, Café Don Cayito is cultivated at elevations of 1,650 to 2,100 meters. The steep slopes create a unique microclimate, shielding crops from Atlantic weather while allowing Pacific breezes and abundant sunshine. This area is celebrated for its exceptional coffee, a result of both ideal soil and grower expertise. Committed to quality, the family processes its harvest at its own Los Angeles micro-mill (established 2009). Here, coffee is separated into lots and microlots by variety and process—washed, honey, or natural—ensuring meticulous oversight from farm to export. The estate grows traditional varieties like Caturra and Catuai, alongside specialty lots of Typica, SL 28, and Geisha. This dedication has yielded outstanding results: this Geisha lot from Don Cayito earned 3rd place in the Costa Rica Cup of Excellence 2025. |
