About farm: The background story of El Laurel begins with the owner, Oscar, who started growing coffee on half a hectare of land inherited from his father. Later, he purchased additional land to expand the farm. With the help of his wife, they worked diligently to develop and grow the farm. Now, Oscar's sons have grown up and, sharing a love for coffee, have joined their parents in the business. With their support, the overall production of Laurel Estate has gradually increased.

The farm cultivates dense foliage to create natural barriers that prevent soil erosion and reduce the impact of rainwater during the rainy season. They follow the recommendations of IHCAFE technicians to grow coffee trees scientifically.

El Laurel participated in the 2017 Honduras Cup of Excellence (CoE) competition, where it won the championship title with an impressive score of 91.81 points. That same year, its coffee was sold at auction for $124.50 and $122.90 per pound. The estate also achieved second place in the second annual Best Parainema competition in 2023 and secured eighth place again in 2025.

About variety: The Parainema variety is one of the coffee beans adapted to medium altitudes, resistant to coffee leaf rust and some nematodes. It is a variant of Sarchimor. Parainema beans are relatively large in size and often exhibit a high sweetness intensity. The Parainema from Laurel Estate also achieved first place in the 2017 Honduras Cup of Excellence (CoE) with a score of 91.81 points.
